Repairing relations with Armenia a priority for Hungary diplomacy: Hungary FM

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS: Restoring relations with Armenia is a priority for Hungarian diplomacy. As Armenpress reports citing  international political daily Politics , Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi came forth with a statement in the briefing with the reporters. Armenia decided to break diplomatic ties on August 31 after Hungary repatriated Azerbaijani national Ramil Sahib Safarov on the understanding that he would continue to serve the life sentence he received in February 2004 for murdering an Armenian.

The Minister stated  ''The Prime Minister decision coincides with Government’s decision. For that reason  there is no arguing whether the government or the prime minister made the decision in Safarov’s case''. Responding to  the reporter’s question about the resigning , Martonyi was quoted as saying there was no question of his resigning, adding that he remained loyal to the prime minister. Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban stated he has approved Government’s decision on extradition of Azerbaijani criminal assassin Ramil Safarov on September 11.
