In Baku Rasmussen spoke about negative consequences of Safarov's pardoning

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS: The NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, repeating his statement, made in Yerevan, in Baku also expressed his concern and worry about the Azerbaijani assassin Ramil Safarov's pardoning, as was reported by Armenpress, referring to the Azerbaijani 1news.az.

«Safarov's pardoning cannot promote the peaceful regulation of the Karabakh conflict», - said Rasmussen emphasizing that the current situation may have negative impact on the stability and security in South Caucasus, as well as peaceful regulation of the Karabakh conflict.

Rasmussen once again mentioned that NATO has always assisted the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in the peaceful regulation of the Karabakh conflict issue. «The peaceful regulation of Nagorno Karabakh conflict does not have any alternative», - said the NATO Secretary General at the Azerbaijan's Diplomatic Academy.

During his regional visit Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited Armenia as well, where he met the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Eduard Nalbandyan and the Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan.
