Armenian prosecutors suspended their visit to Budapest

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: The General Prosecutor's Office has withdrawn the prosecutor's office employees participating in training courses hosted in Budapest. Armenpress was informed by Prosecutor's Office press service that 3 employees of Prosecutor’s office left for Budapest on August 18 for participating in "No. 87 Course" of International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest. They were supposed to undergo the training courses in mentioned academy till October 11 but according to Armenian Chief Prosecutor’s order the participation of Armenian prosecutors in these trainings has been suspended and they will return to Yerevan  on September 4.

The transferring of Ramil Safarov , the murderer of Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan during the training courses of NATO, from Hungary to Azerbaijani and his immediate granting of amnesty by Ilham Aliyev not only aroused anger and wrath but also concern at the safety of Armenians participating in these trainings.

The transfer of Ramil Safarov who was imprisoned for the murder of Gurgen Margaryan in Budapest, motivated by national hatred, forms an atmosphere of impunity for such crimes and creates a fertile ground for their repetition. Armenian Prosecutor’s Office finds it impossible to let its employees participate in the trainings hosted Budapest.

Chief Prosecutor of Armenia has sent a  letter to Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of USA to Armenia John Heffern about the withdrawal of Prosecutor’s Office employees taking into consideration that the above mentioned training was funded by the USA government.
