YEREVAN, MAY 24, ARMENPRESS. The presentation of the monograph "Shengavit", which presents almost all the features of the Shengavit settlement, took place in the hall of sessions of YSU Academic Council. It has been published in the USA
In a conversation with Armenpress, Hakob Simonyan, scientific editor of the monograph, candidate of historical sciences, doctor of arts, professor, foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, stated that the work reveals one of the most important periods of the ancient culture of Armenia, the Early Bronze Age, called Shengavtian or Kur-Araxian. Here are almost all the features of one of the key monuments of culture, the Shengavit settlement.
"The chapters of the book have been written both by the scientific editors and by more than a dozen scientists enjoying great reputation in Armenia and abroad. The published monograph is a new word in the field of Armenian Studies and is of great importance in terms of revealing the ancient history and culture of Armenia, presenting it at the international level, Simonyan noted.
According to him, apart from its scientific importance, the book has the virtue of representing Armenia and has been presented in almost all prestigious libraries of the world.
The author noted that the scientific editor of the monograph is Mitchell Rothman, an honorary professor of the Widener University of the USA. During the 20 years of working on the book, various excavations were held, restoration of findings, preparation of drawings, classification, description.
Their next goal is to publish the book in Armenian, which YSU Publishing House will be responsible for.
Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan mentioned that YSU is the institution that has always paid much attention to such works. According to him, the translation of the Armenian version of the book will begin in the summer, and the printing works will begin at the end of this year.
"We understand that this work is important to our local readers as well. We are sure that it will be of interest not only to specialists, but also to wider circles," Grigoryan concluded.
