Euro 2024 qualifiers: Armenia to “block” Turkey’s strong points in upcoming Yerevan match, says captain
YEREVAN, MARCH 24, ARMENPRESS. Armenia captain Varazdat Haroyan said they’ve studied the strengths and weaknesses of Turkey and will try to “block” their strong sides during the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier due in Yerevan on March 25.
“We are mentally ready, though we have a few mild injuries. Turkey has a good team, they have qualitatively good players. We’ve studied their strong and weak sides. We’ll try to block their strong points. We all know what kind of a match it’s going to be,” Haroyan said at a press conference on Friday.
He said that seeing a packed stadium of fans would be a strong support for the Armenian team.
“We are not a favorite in this group, but we will play each game as if it were the final,” he added, stressing that they’ll try to gain the maximum from every rival team in the group.
Haroyan said that Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s absence will negatively impact the team, but he said they must respect the midfielder’s decision.
