YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. The Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the Indian public policy think-tank Vivekananda International Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on November 29 in Yerevan.

The MoU aims at strengthening the scientific ties between the two institutions.

Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies Robert Ghazaryan said that the Vivekananda International Foundation is mainly analyzing the international relations, and in this respect publication of joint articles and books about analysis, organization of international conferences is very important for the Institute.

“And based on the results we can try to understand the general picture of the Armenian-Indian relations and reveal what is the future of the cooperation between the two countries. As you see, Armenia and India have friendly relations since 1990s, and those relations have further deepened recently. And we, as a scientific center, are trying to give a scientific impetus to those relations”, Mr. Ghazaryan said.

Lt General Ravi Sawhney, a Senior Fellow and Center Head for National Security and Strategic Studies and Neighbourhood Studies and Internal Security Studies in Vivekananda International Foundation, highlighted the establishment of ties with Armenia.

In his remarks he said that he met with the Armenian Ambassador two months ago. “We talked about Armenia. We talked about their connections with us, which are absolutely amazing. Very old connections. But then once again we talked about the new connections. You see, the old connections can help you to renew your connections. But there is a strategic importance as far as Armenia is concerned”, he said.
