YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Despite the opposing positions of the conflicting parties to the Karabakh conflict, Artsakh is inclined to continue the negotiation process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, Speaker of Parliament of Artsakh Artur Tovmasyan said during a conference dedicated to the Artsakh issue.

“Nowadays, when the statehood of Artsakh is endangered, the prospect of exercise of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination is also put side by side to the final settlement of the conflict. Our position should be perceivable also for the countries pursuing their regional interests in South Caucasus. The international community must respect the demand of the Artsakh-Armenians as it is in accordance with the fundamental principles and norms of the international law”, the Speaker said.

According to him, the settlement of the conflict, the lasting and stable peace in the region are impossible without preservation of the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories that have come under the Azerbaijani occupation, as well as without organization of monitoring with all possible means in order to prevent the acts committed aimed at the ethnic cleansing of Armenians. 

“Till today, Azerbaijan, in violation of the provisions of the 2020 November 9 trilateral statement, is regularly conducting aggressive acts against Artsakh which are called as a manifestation of Armenophobia, and also as insidious manifestation of violation of peace and stability in the region and especially neutralization of the peacekeeping mission. We will continue our efforts for the protection of the results of the Artsakh Liberation War carried out for the self-determination and security of the people of Artsakh, for achieving the peaceful and fair solution of the issue”, he said.

He said that at this moment the key task is to ensure the reliable security of the country. 

“I highlight especially the attitude and practical steps taken by Russia over this matter”, he said.
