YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. The meeting of His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and Pope Francis took place in the Vatican during which they also touched upon the ongoing Azerbaijani aggression launched against Artsakh, Information department head at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Vahram Melikyan said.

Condemning the Azerbaijani aggression, His Holiness Garegin II affirmed that peace and stability would be possible to re-establish only through respecting the rights of the Artsakh people and declaring justice.

“His Holiness Garegin II and Pope Francis prayed for the restoration of peace”, Melikyan said.

On September 27 early morning the Azerbaijani military has launched a massive cross-border artillery attack on Artsakh, including on civilian settlements. Peaceful settlements are also under bombardment, including the capital city of Stepanakert.

The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in its military equipment.

Dozens of civilians in Artsakh were wounded as a result of the Azerbaijani attack. A woman and a child were killed in the Azerbaijani attack.
