PM Pashinyan meets with Secretary for Relations with States of Holy See

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State Paul Richard Gallagher.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan welcomed Richard Gallagher’s visit to Armenia and expressed confidence that it will give new impetus to future development and strengthening of relations between Armenia and the Vatican. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the Government of Armenia is interested in deepening bilateral relations with the Vatican, noting that the Armenian people have a warm attitude towards Pope Francis and the Holy See.

Richard Gallagher noted that the Holy See also highly appreciates the historical ties with Armenia, adding that Pope Francis has the same feeling towards the Armenian people. The Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State noted that Armenia has its presence in the Vatican with its rich historical and spiritual heritage.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed the future steps for strengthening and developing relations between Armenia and the Holy See. The sides exchanged views on international developments, including in the Middle East, as well as regional issues. The sides emphasized the contribution of Armenia and the Holy See to the maintenance of global peace.

Nikol Pashinyan and Richard Gallagher referred to Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process and the recent developments.
