YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Parliament launched hearings at the initiative of Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan relating to the constitutional law on Parties, the existing issues and circle of changes.

My Step faction MP Hamazasp Danielyan delivered opening remarks, stating that after the revolution the “rules of the game” should change so that the winner gets everything. “Previously, there hasn’t been so that one party really receives majority of votes by proportional electoral system, with the exception of the 2018 snap parliamentary elections. The task of this Parliament is to change the “rules of this game”, and the change of the Law on Parties is one part of it”, he said.

The lawmaker reminded that they started to talk about the electoral reforms since March. He said that as a result of joint discussions they came to a conclusion that no matter how fundamental are the changes linked with the electoral system, they should try to greatly change the regulations linked with parties because here they have a task to create favorable conditions for forming a political field.
