Police officer killed while on duty awarded with Medal of Courage

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 17, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on posthumously awarding police officer Tigran Arakelyan with the Medal of Courage who was killed while on duty on October 16, the President’s Office told Armenpress.

The President signed the respective decree based on the prime minister’s petition.

On October 16, at 04:20, one police officer was shot dead while another was beaten by two persons in Yerevan.

Two persons have been detained by the Police of Armenia in suspicion of killing one police officer in Yerevan.

Criminal case has been launched into the incident.

Investigation is underway.
