Ensuring Future Prosperity by Educating Children Today – Financial Literacy Days in FINCA

Armenpress 16:23, 16 September, 2019

To celebrate the new academic year, on September 2–13, FINCA UCO organized competitive financial games aimed at developing basic financial management skills among schoolchildren in all regions of Armenia.

FINCA UCO’s purpose is to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living. We are confident that people’s financial literacy has a pivotal role in attaining a decent standard of living.

This year, at the initiative of FINCA, around 800 students from 40 schools across the country learned how to properly manage their personal budget, make well-thought purchases and responsible financial decisions, as well as to save money in a fun and playful environment. All this was made possible through the game “Byudgetik” developed by the Central Bank of RA specifically for middle school students.

“It is very important that financial knowledge is available to people from the moment they start dealing with money, that is, from an early age. That is why children’s financial education is always in the center of attention at FINCA. By educating children today, we are building a more conscious and financially literate generation for tomorrow, who will have a higher quality of life through responsible and smart decisions,” — says Hrachya Tokhmakhyan, the CEO of FINCA UCO.

Along with the valuable knowledge, all the students participating in the games received notebooks and pens made of recycled paper, as a symbol of a responsible treatment of the environment.
