Vanetsyan stepping down as National Security Service Director

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has signed a motion on dismissing Arthur Vanetsyan as Director of the National Security Service.

“I have signed the motion on dismissing the director of the national security service and the order will be signed within one or two days,” the PM said referring to the formal procedure whereby the president must approve the motion.

“This has taken place at mutual agreement with the NSS Director as a result of several discussions. We’ve discussed several options of Mr. Vanetsyan’s future activities,” the PM said.

Vanetsyan was serving as NSS Director since May 2018.

He is also the President of Armenia’s Football Federation.

The PM said Vanetsyan, as FFA president, will from now on focus on advancing the Armenian national team in the Euro 2020 qualifier.
