Armenia’s healthcare minister attends 69th session of WHO Regional Committee for Europe in Denmark

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The 69th session of the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee for Europe has kicked off in Copenhagen, Denmark, which is also attended by Armenia’s delegation led by Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan, the ministry told Armenpress.

Minister Torosyan in his speech will focus on Armenia’s healthcare system reforms and upcoming actions, as well as will touch upon the WHO’s transformation and its consequences for the WHO European Region.

The session agenda includes key technical health issues, such as lessons learned from Health 2020 implementation in the WHO European Region since 2012, leadership in public health in the WHO European Region, promoting health equity in the WHO European Region, implementation of the Programme Budget 2018–2019, WHO’s work at country level, accelerating primary health care in the WHO European Region, accreditation of regional non-state actors to the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, etc.

The Regional Committee will also nominate the next Regional Director for Europe at a private meeting at this session.

After the session the Armenian healthcare minister will depart for New York to attend a high-level meeting on the universal health coverage at the UN General Assembly.
