YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS. The new academic year in Armenia will be marked with a new program: the ministry education, science, culture and sport is going to hold a Science Festival.

Minister of education, science, culture and sport Arayik Harutyunyan told ARMENPRESS that with this program they want to contribute to raising the students’ interest towards science.

“In reality, the recent observations and studies enable to say that our school-children are greatly interested in science, just there are not enough opportunities for them. In addition to trying to increase the interest of our children towards science, we will also reveal our potential in schools via this Festival, will understand where we face problems of upgrading, further improving the conditions, etc.”, the minister said.

The ministry doesn’t yet release details on the format of the Festival, because some issues are still at the discussion stage, but the overall concept is clear. Those school-children who want to take part in the Festival, can present new ideas and research programs in the field of science. They firstly will be assessed by local juries according to their territories, and then the main jury will select the best ones to pass to the next stage. The ministry has planned awards, and the winner will have a chance to present his/her innovative ideas at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2020.
