Cooperation with French company THALES to open new prospects for Armenia in high technologies industry

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s cooperation with THALES, a French company providing services for the aerospace, defense, transportation and security markets, will allow to connect with one another the global leading high technologies with the skills Armenia and the Armenian specialists have, reports Armenpress.

The company delegation arrived in Armenia at the initiative and invitation of President Armen Sarkissian. The delegation is led by THALES Vice President, regional director Paul Remi.

The company Vice President met with President Sarkissian at the Presidential Palace.

“I am very happy that you are satisfied from the visit to Armenia and I expect that the visit will give its results in the future. From our side I can confirm that we will do everything within our capacities to make the cooperation possible. We expect to create a number of joint ventures between THALES and Armenian companies”, the Armenian President said, adding that he is looking forward to see them again in Armenia for creating a new industry of the 21st century.

In his turn Paul Remi thanked the President for the invitation and stated that this can be a very productive visit for them. He also met with deputy prime minister Tigran Avinyan, secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, visited the Synopsis Armenia, PicsArt and the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.

“Our company is one of the leaders in Europe in the field of high technologies. The cooperation with Armenia is very promising and natural because what I saw here talks about the fact that there is a firm readiness by everyone”, Paul Remi said.

He stated that during the meeting with the Armenian deputy PM he affirmed the agreements existing with the government and the organizations he met with.

“I met with businessmen, students, young people and NGO representatives. I was very impressed with the fact of the connection of the industrial world and the education sector that are being developed by the institutes and universities. This is a right communication. This is also a right path for countries like France which can learn something new from the experience of here”, he said.

At a meeting with reporters Paul Remi stated that the visit to Armenia was an exploratory mission as he hasn’t visited Armenia for a long time.

“The goal was to examine all experiments and ventures. I saw there are many ecosystem companies here which are quite active, there are many companies specialized in pictures and videos. I also saw companies which are making investments”, Paul Remi said, adding that all this has positive tendencies.

As for the future cooperation the THALES Vice President said he must collect the whole information and discuss it with his colleagues.

“We need to find business models, reveal the programs and then collect team for it. My duty is to find a team, people who are ready to come and observe the business opportunities with the possible partners of Armenia”, he said, adding that it’s still early to talk about their decisions.
