YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. A special lecture on the Armenian Genocide has been held for 90 students of the high school of Helsinge, Denmark.

The lecture was initiated by one of the school’s teachers - Martin Thorbjørn Knudsen, the foreign ministry said.

Knudsen presented the students with the history of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the Turkish government’s denial policy.

Danish historian and genocide scholar Matthias Bjørnlund and Armenian Ambassador to Denmark Alexander Arzumanyan were invited as lecturers. Bjørnlund is the author of Armenian Genocide: From Beginning to End, a critically acclaimed book published in 2013.

Bjørnlund’s lecture was dedicated to the 19th-20th century Armenian history. He comprehensively presented the stance of European countries on the recognition process of the Armenian Genocide. He also talked about Danish missionaries Karen Jeppe and Maria Jacobsen, who saved thousands of Armenian children from the genocide.

The Armenian Ambassador’s lecture focused on the importance of a united struggle for condemning and preventing the crime of genocide.
