Armenia plans to reach number of tourists to at least 3 million annually within five years

YEREVAN, JUNE 19, ARMENPRESS. According to the Armenian Government’s 2017-2022 program, the number of tourists is expected to be reached at least 3 million annually, reports Armenpress.

The program has been approved by the government and submitted for the Parliament’s discussion.

In order to improve the legal field regulating the tourism sector, by the end of 2017 the government plans to facilitate the process of granting visas to the citizens of countries which are considered as targeted markets.

Until the end of 2018 the government plans to define new qualitative requirements for tourism services and install their assurance mechanisms. It is planned to introduce the tourism register until the end of 2019, as well as to complete the works on creating common tourism information network within the Republic by the end of 2020.

In order to contribute to Armenia’s recognition, to ensure the diversification of tourism result, to improve the statistics the government plans to develop and adopt ‘Pilgrimage to first Christian country’ strategy by the end of 2017 and implement it in 2018.

The program also proposes to provide assistance to the organization of annual traditional festivals, celebrations and other tourism events in Armenia’s provinces.
