Armenia, Tajikistan to strengthen cooperation in international organizations

YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Tajikistan are full of resolve to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples, “Armenpress” reports this is an extract from the joint statement of the Armenian and Tajik Presidents issued based on the results of the talks.

The statement mentions that the two states will build their relations based on strategic partnership with the spirit of mutual trust and guided by principles of respect towards sovereignty, peaceful settlement of disputes and non use of force or the threat to use it, non interference in the domestic affairs of one another, equality and mutual benefit. The Heads of State expressed readiness to deepen bilateral relations in economic, trade, transport, military and military technical spheres, as well as in the spheres of science, culture, tourism and health.

The Presidents affirmed that the deepening of foreign policy cooperation between Armenia and Tajikistan based on mutual support in the issues concerning to the fundamental interests of the two states stems from the interest of the two peoples to strengthen friendship and is a key element in Armenian-Tajik interstate partnership. The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan will expand constructive partnership in the sidelines of the UN, OSCE, CSTO, CIS and other international institutions for the sake of peace, stability and strengthening of security both on regional and global levels.

The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan confirm their adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. The sides acknowledge the key role of the United Nations in ensuring international peace and security under the conditions of the growing role of regional institutions in conflict prevention and peaceful settlement of conflicts.

Armenia and Tajikistan also affirm their readiness to cooperate in the future as well in counter- measuring global challenges and threats – terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of cross-border organized crime based on international treaties signed by the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan.  

The sides emphasize the necessity of expanding the future activities and raising the effectiveness of Armenia-Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan.

The sides attach key importance to the deepening of mutually beneficial economic cooperation and are ready to support the realization of the existing huge potential in this sphere. For that purpose they will maximally support the enlargement of trade turnover and development of cooperation in transport, communications, agriculture, mining, light and processing industry, as well as in innovation and a number of other spheres.
