YEREVAN, MAY 10, ARMENPRESS. The Iranian presidential election campaign is heating up in the final period and it’s not ruled out that it would get more heated until election day.

Derenik Melikyan, editor in chief on Alik daily, said three candidates are at the center of the competition – Hassan Rouhani, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Ebrahim Raisi, who exchanged harsh criticism for one another during the TV debate.

“This creates a whirl among the society and encourages the passive sector to participate in the election. Anyhow, after two days the third and final TV debate will take place, which by the way will focus on delicate economic issues, and will enable the candidates who oppose the incumbent president to use their entire campaign arsenal, including populist means, which, undoubtedly, president Rouhani will try to overcome by confronting tricks”, he said.

The Iranian presidential election will take place on May 19.
