Microelectronics to become compulsory in 70 high schools by 2020

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, ARMENPRESS. A pilot project is underway in the high schools of the republic since September of the current year according to which “Microelectronics”, “Information technologies” and “Telecommunications” become compulsory. “Armenpress” reports that the director of “Synopsys Armenia” company Hovik Musaelyan announced about this at the Presidential Palace.

According to him, the analysis of the annual prizes awarded by the Armenian President allow to conclude that sometimes pupils progressing in natural sciences choose humanitarian direction as a specialization, which is not advisable. “Another 10 schools will join the pilot project next year and already by the year 2020 those subjects will become compulsory in 70 high schools”, Hovik Musaelyan said.  According to him, many international experts have mentioned that similar ideas have arose also in their countries, but Armenia is the first country to bring it into reality.

The IT sector expert noted that Armenian pupils brought 20 medals from international Olympiads which exceed Turkey, as well as Georgia and Azerbaijan together.
