YEREVAN, MAY 13, ARMENPRESS: The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Yervand Zakharyan thinks that the Electric Networks of Armenia has submitted a new application on the increase of the price for electricity based on the current situation. During the meeting with the journalists, held on May 13, the Minister Zakharyan said that during the last three years the Electric Networks of Armenia has suffered serious losses for some reasons and the situation makes it take a price increase way.
“Due to the unplanned work interruption of the power plant, the dry year and regime violations, the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC has suffered serious losses. And I should say that the Company is not responsible for any of these reasons. Certainly, these losses emerged due to bad management as well, but there are no clear standards to estimate what are the losses in the result of the bad management. Consequently, I think that the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC has submitted a new application on the increase of the price for electricity based on the current situation. The recent currency exchange fluctuations as well forced the Company make this step”, - stated Yervand Zakharyan, Armenpress reports.
The Minister assured that the Government did everything possible to prevent the increase of the tariffs for electricity, though in this case not everything depends on the Government.
