YEREVAN, AUGUST 11, ARMENPRESS. With the new presidential election in Turkey no change is anticipated in the country’s political course and principles, and President Erdogan will conduct the same policy, which he did while Prime Minister. In a conversation with "Armenpress" this opinion was expressed by Prof. Dr. Ruben Safrastyan, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, noting that in 2015, when Erdogan succeeds to make amendments to the Constitution and give greater powers to the president, he will appeal to a more adventurous foreign policy and will make his ultimate goal the assumption of the position of a dominant state in the Middle East.

"I think that in the future Turkey will be distinguished by a more adventurous policy, and this adventurism will lead to worsening of relations with its neighbors," said Ruben Safrastyan, adding that there will be no change in its position and relations with Armenia.

“It is impossible to expect serious changes over the Armenian issue during Erdoğan’s presidency. I do not anticipate any breakthrough in the Armenian cause and the Armenian Genocide recognition.”
