Armenia will implement landslide disasters management program with Japan

YEREVAN, JUNE 6, ARMENPRESS. From July this year Armenia together with Japan will start to implement a new program of anti-landslide measures. On June 6, at the meeting with the journalists, this was said by the Head of the Department of Population Protection and Elimination of Disaster Consequences of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Hovhannes Yenichyan. "In July, we will start the landslide disaster management planning program, a joint program with Japan", as reports “Armenpress”, said Hovhannes Yenichyan.

Yenichyan noted that the program is designed and offer to the Government of Japan by the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The program is already approved, and at this point the tendering process is going on in Japan. "The work is scheduled to begin in July. The total value will be 2.5-3.2 million dollars" - he said.

The project plans to conduct research, studies of landslide bodies. Besides, to learn the Japanese experience, training courses will be held for the Armenian specialist by the Japanese. "Project duration will be 2-2.5 years" - said Yenichyan.
