YEREVAN, JULY 8, ARMENPRESS: During the third Dolma festival which is held in framework of “Golden Apricot” film festival, Armenian cookers will take part in the competition of making the longest dolma. “Armenpress” was informed about this from president of public organization of keeping and developing Armenian culinary traditions Sedrak Mamulyan. “The festival is held since 2011 when Azerbaijani authorities announced that we allegedly snatch their cultural values, including dolma. The idea of the festival existed and such talks made it be realized quicker,” mentioned Mamulyan.

Organizer of “Golden Apricot” events Vardan Hakobyan also is glad for this cooperation. “Film festivals have the aim to attract the attention of film lovers and hospitality is a little “trick” especially in Eastern countries, which have rich cousin,” said Vardan Hakobyan. In his words this is a very good opportunity to show the guests of “Golden Apricot” arrived from 50-60 countries our rich cousin and culture.

Ethnographer Svetlana Poghosyan stresses the importance of the dolma festival idea and mentions that this is an attempt to transfer our culture from older generation to youth. She also highlighted the fact that during the festival in=s not stressed that only we have dolma but also that our dolma has special procedure of preparing. Unlike many other nations Armenians wrap dolma and not stuff it,” she said.

In Sedrak Mamulyan’s words year by year the inflow of participants of the festival is increasing. This year will be participants from Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Armavir and Yerevan. The participation is free of charge. The winners will be awarded in three nominations – “best taste”, “best appearance” and “best idea”.

The festival will be opened on July 10, at 18:00 o’clock.
