Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka opened in Armenia

YEREVAN, APRIL 10, ARMENPRESS. The Honorary Consulate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Armenia will operate in Arshakunyants Street 3a. The official opening ceremony of the consulate was held on April 10. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Armenia Udayanga Weeratunga (resident in Moscow) gladly announced that the present diplomatic relations between Armenia and Sri Lanka have history of 20 years. Among other things he underscored: "We pass into a new stage by opening the consulate. We are hopeful that this will create favorable conditions for the development of bilateral ties, multiplying the trade circulation, development of tourism, strengthening cultural and business relations." The Ambassador also emphasized that he is glad that Sargis Tarverdyan was appointed the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka and he will properly represent Sri Lanka's interests in Armenia.

The Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Armenia Sargis Tarverdyan stated that the consulate will foster the development of the present relations between the two countries. The main goal will be the development of tourism and relations between the two countries.
