Stepanakert airport got certificate and was put into operation

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS: Nagorno Karabakh Republic capital Stepanakert airport officially received a certificate and was operated. As Nagorno Karabakh Civil Aviation Department head Dmitry Atbashyan told in the briefing with Armenpress, the airport fully meets international standards.

''Stepanakert airport is officially ready. It can host aircrafts  and see  them off, yet the fixed timetable of the flights is not clarified. The certificate issued by NKR Civil Aviation Department testifies the airport is ready to launch.Armenian Republic Civil Aviation Department informed Armenpress, Stepanakert airport is scheduled to launch flights in coming days.

In the briefing with Armenpress political scientist Levon Shirinyan stated Stepanakert airport must launch flights, there is no way back. In his words Azerbaijan exercises extreme methods to hinder the process. ''We should take a number of safety measures, we must not forget we  are confronting with Turks. Artsakh Defense Army should be at the highest state of combat readiness, reportedly air defense inclusive'' politician noted.

Stepanakert chief architect Tigran Barseghyan stated 5 million dollars was spent. ''Yerevan-Stepanakert flight lasts 35 minutes. Airport has serious long-term development intensions. The time will show the course of the further developments'' Barseghyan noted.
