The first sitting of the commission set up for the coordination of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has referred to the implementation of assignments of the Armenian President to the ministries of diaspora, culture, education and science, National Academy of Sciences. President of the Republic Serzh Sargsyan, His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, His Holiness Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I, ministers, NKR President took part in the event.

Hayk Demoyan, director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, said the sitting gave launch to the general working strategy. This year the commission will conduct another sitting in fall, during which the initial programs and the list of events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide till 2015 will be summed up. A web site dedicated to the 100th anniversary of genocide will be created.

Director of the ARF Armenian Cause and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan welcomed the initiative of the President to create such a commission. At the same time he positively assessed the works of the first sitting saying it has fixed the existing challenges for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
