YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS:A former Armenian prosecutor claimed yesterday that a bomb that exploded on Thursday morning outside the office of an Armenian opposition newspaper, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun (The Fourth Estate), was the handwork of the supporters of ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian. The prosecutor, Sokrat Hovsepian, claimed that Ter-Petrosian’s Armenian National Movement (ANM) had practiced it still in late 1980-s and early 90- s to seize the power from the Communists. The former prosecutor recalled a provocation at Yerevan railway station on May 27, 1990 that claimed seven lives after a group of ANM activists clashed with Soviet troops. “Ter-Petrosian instigated the clash with Soviet troops to spark hatred of Armenians towards the Russians, which he thought would help him to seize power in 1990,” the ex-prosecutor claimed yesterday. Sokrat Hovsepian quoted a late colleague who hurried to say in the wake of the 1990 May 27 incident that the railway station clash was the handwork of the ANM. No-one was injured in the blast, which blew out windows and damaged the doors at the office of the newspaper.
