YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS. According to preliminary estimations, Armenia will have nearly 140 new daily cases of the novel coronavirus in early September if the current trend is maintained, Deputy Prime Minister, State of Emergency Commandant Tigran Avinyan said at the special session of the Parliament.

“According to the analysis of the expert team assisting the Commandant’s Office, the reproduction rate of the virus was 0.8 as of June 28 and the declining trend continues. This result, according to a research, has been achieved mainly thanks to the policy of wearing masks and other rules, but of course, the weather factor is also important. In case of maintenance of this trend it’s estimated that we will have nearly 140 new cases in a day in early September. These predictions are very preliminary and do not mean that the declining trends will be maintained because they are conditioned by numerous factors”, Avinyan said.

The Commandant’s Office is regularly developing and revising different approaches in accordance with the ongoing developments with the COVID-19 situation.

The Armenian Parliament is holding a special session, debates the issue on extending the coronavirus-related state of emergency.

The government today made a decision to extend the state of emergency for another month, until August 12.

According to the latest data, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Armenia has reached 32,151, out of which 19,865patients have already recovered. The number of active cases stands at 11,530. The death toll has risen to 573.
