YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The food security concept of Armenia for 2017-2021 provides for increasing Armenia’s self-sufficiencylevel to 74-76% in terms of key foodstuff, “Armenpress” reports Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Ignati Arakelyan told after Cabinet meeting.
The self-sufficiency level for vital foodstuff is expected to be increased from the current 60% to 74-76% in 2021 by creating necessary conditions for coordinated and concerted measures aimed at ensuring the country's food security. The level of demand satisfaction for key foodstuff is expected to be increased at the expense of domestic production, as well as to be created conditions for improving the welfare of the people, cutting poverty rates and development of rural communities.
