More independent Audit Chamber will be established on the basis of Armenian Control Chamber

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, ARMENPRESS. More independent Audit Chamber will be established on the basis of the Armenian Control Chamber which is enshrined in the new Constitution, Chairmanof the National Assembly (NA)Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gagik Minasyan mentioned in the interview with reporters adding that their goals are the same: to manage the efficient governance of public finances and public property.

“Audit Chamber will be extremely independent body than today’s Control Chamber. Government realizes the major part of its control mission confirming the annual project of the Control Chamber’s activity but hereby the Audit Chamber will confirm it on its own. National Assembly was behind the Control Chamber as a supervisory body but in the case of Audit Chamber the law stands behind it. The new constitution grants more independence to the Audit Chamber which is specific to the principles of Intosai and one of these principles is the absolute independence of Audit Chambers,” Gagik Minasyan said, “Armenpress” reports.

At the same time MP mentioned the independent Audit Chamber must refrain from political statements to achieve more public trust.

He also noted that the Audit Chamber must submit the result of its activity to the National Assembly for 10-15 times but not how it is done in present, that is – for 2 times.
