Alexander Arzumanyan does not believe in success of ANC initiative to apply to Constitutional Court but has joint it

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. National Assembly “Heritage” faction member Alexander Arzumanyan has joint the initiative of Armenian National Congress (ANC) to apply to the Constitutional Court for questioning the results of the referendum. In an interview with journalists at the National Assembly Arzumanyan mentioned that the petition is a good idea and MPs should join it. “I do not expect this initiative to be successful, but I consider it a healthy process. Any discussion is a demonstration of democracy”, “Armenpress" reports, Arzumanyan mentioned.

He stated that the authorities must be able to persuade the political forces and the public that the results of the referendum are legitimate. The MP also added that he personally favors the Constitutional reforms.

To the question why opposition parties “Prosperous Armenia” and ARF do not join the petition initiated by ANC, Arzuamanyan answered, “Prosperous Armenia has never acted as an opposition. It has been “non-government”, as I used to call that party. Now may be “half-government”. But the ARF principally defends its 25 year old idea. The fact that this Constitution stems from the ideology of ARF is irrefutable.

“Rule of Law” party, MPs Zaruhi Postanjyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Edmon Marukyan, Khachatur Kokobelyan, Nikol Pashinyan have joint the petition initiated by the ANC for appealing the results of December 6 referendum. ANC faction deputies Hrant Bagratyan and Lyudmila Sargsyan have not joint the initiative yet.
