National Assembly Commission delayed Zaruhi Postanjyan’s bill up to one year

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs delayed “Heritage” party’s faction member Zaruhi Postanjyan’s bill from being included in the agenda of NA plenary session.
The bill proposed creating an ad hoc committee which will investigate the criminal cases filed for soldiers killed during peacetime and will ensure their transparency. The keynote speaker, NA “Heritage” faction member Zaruhi Postanjyan emphasized that there are many cases of biased investigation of criminal cases filed for soldiers killed during peacetime and later are suspended. “I have invited also the parents of killed soldiers to the discussion who insist that their sons were killed during service but the perpetrators have not been punished and the criminal cases have been suspended. I propose to create an ad hoc committee which will examine those criminal cases giving the MPs an opportunity to sent requests to relevant bodies within the limits of their authorization and obtain information about the criminal cases”, Postanjyan mentioned, “Armenpress” reports.
Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, ANC faction MP Gagik Jhangiryan mentioned in his speech that the idea is a very good one but there are numerous editorial mistakes in the submitted bill which need to be corrected. “I suggest to delay the bill as we cannot vote with this content”, Jhangiryan said.
Author of the bill Zaruhi Postanjyan accepted that there are drawbacks in the bill and there is a necessity of corrections. She agreed upon the suggestion to delay the bill for one year.
