Sochi 2014: Armenian skier to miss sprint

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 11, ARMENPRESS. Skiers Sergey Mikayelyan and Artur Yeghoyan, representing Armenia at XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, will miss sprint. As reports “Armenpress” citing the official website of the Olympic Games, the Armenian athletes have not been included in the sprint participants’ list. Currently there are 86 athletes participating in sprint.

Previously it was reported that cross-country skiers Sergey Mikayelyan and Artur Yeghoyan took part in the men’s 30-kilometer skiathlon, and they came in 46th and 63rd, respectively, from among 68 competitors.

In women’s competition Katya Galstyan will compete on February 13, at 2 pm to 3.40 pm – 10 km classic style cross-country race. Alpine skier Arman Serebrakian will take part in giant slalom on February 19 and in special slalom on February 22.

The busiest day yet of medal action at the 2014 Winter Olympics will see eight athletes in seven different sports be crowned Olympic champions.

The only sport where two golds will be handed out on Tuesday is cross-country skiing, where the men's and women's sprint competitions will take place.

The marquee medal event of the day is the men's halfpipe in snowboarding, where the United States' best chance for gold on Tuesday comes in the form of Shaun White, the two-time defending gold medalist in the event.
