Statement on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict reconfirms Minsk Group’s exceptional format for the settlement of the conflict: Armen Ashotyan

YEREVAN, JUNE 19, ARMENPRESS: The statement issued on June 18 by the presidents of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries reconfirms the exceptional format of Minsk Group in the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. On June 19 during a press conference such opinion expressed Minister of education and science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan. “For a long time Azerbaijani side and several international experts serving its interests try to raise the issue of changing the format of Minsk Group. It is obvious that with yesterday’s statement this topic is totally closed also by Co-Chair countries,” said Ashotyan, reports “Armenoress”.
In his opinion this statement is subject to a valuation of number of accents. One of them is that Azerbaijani foreign policy of oil blackmail is failed not only because of global energy developments but also taking into consideration the circumstance that the volume of procession and export of organic fuel has fallen in Azerbaijan.
“The statement receives extra importance in the South Caucasus region the only aim and importance of which is not the issue of energy. The region has greater influence in global policy,” mentioned the minister adding that this statement must be the next call for Azerbaijani authorities especially before presidential elections.
On June 18 OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries Russia, USA and France issued a joint statement on the settlement of the conflict expressing their regret that conflict sides have not yet reached the solution of the conflict in result of negotiating process.
