YEREVAN, MAY 24, ARMENRPESS. The case of former Trabzon District Gendarmerie Commander, Colonel Ali Öz can be reviewed again. Colonel Ali Öz has been charged in connection with the case of assassination of former Editor-in-Chief of Armenian "Agos" periodical Hrant Dink. The Turkish Court of Appeals demanded to declare null and void the previous decision regarding Ali Öz and 6 other representatives of Gendarmerie. As reports "Armenpress" Turkish Radikal periodical stated this.

Turkey's Prosecutor's Office finds that the previous decision is incomplete and claims that the accused must be also sentenced for "forging documents" and that the High Criminal Court must examine the case. In that case Col. Ali Öz and 6 other representatives of Gendarmerie may be sentenced up to 8 years of imprisonment.

6 years have passed after the assassination of prominent Armenian journalist from Istanbul, chief editor of "Agos" weekly Hrant Dink. Hrant Dink was shot dead in Shishli district of Istanbul on January 19, 2007. After leaving the murder shouted "giaour" giving basis for suspicion that the murder was committed based on nationalist hatred. Dink was one of those intellectuals, famous for their fearless speeches being numerously persecuted for that.
