Swiss Ambassador to Armenia predicts activation of cooperation between Armenia and Switzerland

YEREVAN, MAY 23, ARMENPRESS: The Armenia-Switzerland cooperation in different fields is gradually activating. As the Armenpress correspondent was reported by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to the Republic of Armenia Konstantin Obolensky, one of the newest fields of cooperation is education.

“We want to develop the bilateral ties with Armenia in different spheres, including culture”, - said Konstantin Obolensky.

“Since 1988, when we provided Armenia with humanitarian aid, Switzerland has always been active in the development programs implementation not only with Armenia but also in the region”, - stated the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to the Republic of Armenia, adding that in comparison with the last year, the volume of the investments made in Armenia in 2013 is bigger.

On May 23 three young Armenian researchers were awarded with the Swiss Government’s “Excellency Scholarships”. The program was coordinated by Luys Foundation.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Switzerland have been established on January 5 1992.

On January 30 2009 Charles Aznavour was appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Switzerland (Residence - Geneva).
