Iranian gas price is much higher, than that of Russian gas: Armen Movsisyan

YEREVAN, MAY 22, ARMENPRESS. Iran suggests a much higher price for gas, than Russia does. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Armen Movsisyan stated this during the press conference held on May 22, when he was asked why Armenia does not buy gas from Iran. Also he refuted conversations saying that the Armenia-Iran gas pipeline was given to "Armrusgazard" Company under pressure of the Russian side. As reports "Armenpress" among other things the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Armen Movsisyan underscored: "There have never been such pressures. I repeat that we need corresponding utilities for exploitation 40 km long gas pipeline, and we have given it to a company, which has corresponding structural units, utilities, and technique, which are necessary for its exploitation." In addition he noted that they have not sold the gas pipeline, but have just given it for exploitation.
"Armrusgazard" CJSC and "Transgaz" LLC applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, offering to raise the current gas tariff from AMD 132,000 to AMD 221,000. It is suggested to raise the present price for the gas from 132,000 AMD to 221,000 AMD for the users (subscribers), who consume up to 10,000 normal cubic meter of gas monthly, VAT included.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan sent an official letter to the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia Robert Nazaryan. In accordance with the letter the Government of the Republic of Armenia will subsidize the gas tariff for 30 percent.
