Montserrat Caballé to spend 10 days in Yerevan

YEREVAN, MAY 21, ARMENPRESS: The Spanish world famous opera singer Montserrat Caballé will perform a concert at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Balletafter Alexander Spendiaryan. As the Armenpress correspondent was reported by the organizer of the concert Vahagn Gevorgyan, the tickets for the concert have been in sale from May 20.
“The singer will spend in Yerevan 10 days”, - added Vahagn Gevorgyan. According to him, Caballé is intended to give a press conference before the Yerevan concert.
The price for the tickets is from 5,000 to 50,000 AMD.
The world famous opera singer Montserrat Caballé celebrated her 80th anniversary on April 12 2013.
Montserrat Caballé was born in 1933 in Barcelona and studied music at theLiceu Conservatory. She graduated with a gold medal in 1954. She subsequently moved toBasel, Switzerland, where she made her professional debut in 1956.
Caballé's international breakthrough came in 1965 when she substituted for an indisposedMarilyn Hornein a semi-staged performance ofDonizetti'sLucrezia Borgiaat New York’s Carnegie Hall, which earned her a 25-minute standing ovation.
In 1992 because of the voice problems occurred in the result of the illness Caballé temporarily suspended her performances in the opera, singing only at the concerts, though returning to the opera in2002.
In 1977 Montserrat Caballé records One Life One Soul rock ballad with the Swiss Gotthard rock band.
Caballé has dedicated herself to various charities. She is aUNESCO Goodwill Ambassadorand has established a foundation for needy children in Barcelona. In 2003, she starred in her own documentary filmCaballé Beyond Music, which featured many well-known opera singers, includingPlácido Domingo,Luciano Pavarotti,José Carreras, andRenée Fleming.
