YEREVAN, MAY 20, ARMENPRESS: The Government of the Republic of Armenia did not refuse the idea of building a new nuclear power plant. As reported by Armenpress, this was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan at the session held at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, informing that in this direction much work has been done with the Russian partners. “We can say that we have already started the program. We have selected one of the best companies of the world, which presented the schedule of the works to be implemented”, - said the Prime Minister.
As reported by Tigran Sargsyan, the project of building a new nuclear power plant was not included in the Government’s program, as at this moment negotiations are held when it is most convenient to be put into operation.
At the same time the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan stated that 150 million USD will be allocated to prolong the activities of the functioning power plant. Earlier it was declared that the works of the functioning power plant will be suspended in 2016-2017.
