Anti-hail stations to be placed in Armenia

YEREVAN, MAY 17, ARMENPRESS: To provide more effective protection from hail in the Republic’s Marzes of Armavir, Ararat and Aragatsotn, the second and third protective zones should be established. This was stated to Armenpress by the Director of the Service for Active Effects on Atmospheric Phenomena at the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia Robert Hovsepyan. According to him, in Armavir Marz more than 100 anti-hail stations should be placed.“It is connected with financial expenses. If the Government of the Republic of Armenia allocates money for that purpose, another 30 stations as well will be placed. The preference will be given to the most damaged communities”, - said Robert Hovsepyan.
The Director of the Service for Active Effects on Atmospheric Phenomena at the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia stated that the anti-hail stations are effective in case if they are placed with groups. Robert Hovsepyan added that the anti-hail stations of the Ministry of Nature Protection are efficient and ready to be used.
The hail, fell on May 12, damaged the fruit trees and sowed fields of the abovementioned marzes. 35 anti-hail stations are currently placed in the Republic, 14 of which are in Armavir, 15 – in Aragatsotn and 6 – in Lori. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia established a working group to carry out researches in the marzes to measure the volumes of the damages.
