Parliamentary hearings on Armenian EC Presidency to be held

YEREVAN, APRIL 30, ARMENPRESS: By the initiative of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, on May 3 parliamentary hearings will be held on the subject of “European Council Presidency by the Republic of Armenia”. According to Armenpress, the hearings will be held in the framework of the Armenian EC Presidency.

Armenia has become the full-pledged member of the European Council on January 25 2001. Armenia’s EC membership process had begun since 1995. On January 26 1996 the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was granted a status of special invitee at the EC Parliamentary Summit. On November 9 2000 Armenia got the offer to become a member of the European Council. On May 16 2013 Armenia will assume the EC presidency in Strasburg.

In the framework of the Armenian EC Presidency different important events are intended to be held on the level of the parliaments, ministers of foreign affairs, as well as in the field of culture and education. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will visit Strasburg on the occasion of the Armenian EC Presidency.
