Armenian and Russian MFAs discussed federative relations issues

YEREVAN, APRIL 26, ARMENPRESS: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Nalbandyan is currently in Moscow with an official visit. The Moscow visit of the Minister was launched on April 25 by laying a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier at the Eternal Flame and commemorating the victims of the Great Patriotic War. As Armenpress was reported by the Department for Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, welcoming Eduard Nalbandyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov congratulated him on the reassignment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and expressed his content that the first official visit is made to Russia.

Eduard Nalbandyan and Sergey Lavrov expressed their satisfaction about the development of the Russian-Armenian relations. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation, intergovernmental relations, military and technical collaboration, as well as the interparliamentary relations and the activity of the partnership commission between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs highlighted as well the humanitarian cooperation issues, international and regional problems, developments in North Africa and Near and Middle East, the negotiations over the Iranian nuclear program and the regional security of the South Caucasus.

Eduard Nalbandyan and Sergey Lavrov paid a special attention to the peaceful regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict issue. In this context the Armenian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the constant efforts made by Russia and other OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The Ministers highlighted that the meetings of the Heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries have always been effective. The meeting of Eduard Nalbandyan and Sergey Lavrov was followed by the joint press conference.
