YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of closing events of proclaiming Yerevan World Book Capital 2012 the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the delegation of foreign writers, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the first International Poetry Festival titled "In the Beginning was the Word".
The Media and Public Relations Department of the Yerevan Municipality informed "Armenpress" that Mayor Taron Margaryan welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude for their visit. Taron Margaryan also underscored that the title of World Book Capital is full of both honor and responsibility. Among other things the Mayor of Yerevan noted: "It's an honor for the capital of all Armenians to be titled World Book Capital, due to which the cultural life of the capital became warmer and brighter. During the past year a number of events dedicated to book and reading were held in Yerevan, and I guess that during that period we succeeded to make books and reading more interesting for the youth." Taron Margaryan expressed conviction that each of the capital's guests will return his homeland with bright memories about Yerevan and its dwellers.
