Government of the Republic of Armenia resigned

YEREVAN, APRIL 9, ARMENPRESS. In accordance with the Constitution, the Government of the Republic of Armenia resigned on April 9. As reports "Armenpress" the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan recited the text of resignation. In accordance with the 4th point of the article 55 of the Constitution the President of the Republic of Armenia accepts the resignation of the Government on the day he assumes the office. After the President of the Republic of Armenia accepts the resignation, the members of the Government continue the fulfillment of their duties till the formation of a new government.

Among other things Tigran Sargsyan congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of assuming the President's office for the second time. Also Tigran Sargsyan stated: "The best adviser for the future is the past. Taking into consideration Your experience, the way You have passed, along with Your knowledge and human merits, we are hopeful that the state will be developing and achieve new heights."

Based on the deputy seats distribution and consultations with the parliamentary fractions, the President of the Republic assigns a Prime Minister the person enjoying the confidence of the majority of the deputies and if it is not possible, the person enjoying the confidence of the highest number of the deputies. The President of the Republic assigns the Prime Minister in 10 days after the Government’s resignation. The Government is formed after the assignment of the Prime Minister in 20 days.
