22 young people from Turkey, Greece and Armenia participated in ''SHELTER'' project

YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS: Armenia's Tsaghkadzor city hosted 33 young people from Turkey, Greece and Armenia from 12th to 19th of March. As Armenian Progressive Youth NGO told Armenpress, they gathered in Armenia to participate in a trilateral youth exchange ''SHELTER'', organized by Armenian Progressive Youth NGO with financial support of Youth in Action Programme of the European Union and co-funding from Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia.

Intercultural Youth Exchange was focused on cross-cultural communication and cultural sharing between these 3 countries, which are burdened by a long history of painful disagreements. 11 Armenian, 11 Greek and 11 Turkish participants lived, acted, learned, shared and explored together as one big family. Participants were engaged in a variety of activities such as workshops, seminars, artistic activities, training, intercultural evenings, city games, sightseeing, cultural visits etc.

The main objective of the project was to strengthen cross-cultural awareness of young people from Armenia, Greece and Turkey, break their stereotypes and prejudices about each other through direct communication. At the same time project aimed at giving youngsters the possibility to work in mixed nationality groups and exchange ideas and experiences as well as giving them a platform to find areas of mutual concern and continue to work together in future.
