Demand on Armenian carpets increases in international market

YEREVAN, AUGUST 27, ARMENPRESS: In Armenian and international market this year is notices increase of demand towards Armenian carpets. Armenpress was informed about this from executive director of "Tufenkian Trans Caucasus" company Arman Grigoryan and Direcotr on production and commercial director of "Megeryan Carpet" company Leonid Andreasyan. "Because of the crisis during the last four years the demand on our carpets increased but this year is obviously noticed rather great growth" said Arman Grigoryan.

The 90 percent of the production we export to Europe, Asia, USA and the rest realize in internal market. Basically we use traditional Armenian trims, do combination of different patterns. "If the supplier presents his demand than we act according to it" said the executive director of "Tufenkian Trans Caucasus" company.

Leonid Andreasyan also mentioned that in comparison with several last years growth of interest towards Armenian carpets is noticed in international market.

"Our carpets are similar to letters: each trim consists of an interesting idea and the carpet in total presents a unique idea. We try to keep our national as now many countries use Armenian trims and try to introduce them as their own. Our company has always implemented steps in order Armenian carpets find their place in international market" mentioned Andreasyan.

Each year these companies present Armenian carpets at the exhibition in American city Atlanta.

Five enterprises which are involved in carpet production in 2011 gave a production of 77.31 million AMD. The increase in comparison with 2010 is 23.7 percent.

The carpet culture which has its own place in Armenian cultural system has been known since 4-3 millenniums B.C. Armenian carpets are unique by their rich color combination and high level of sewing.
