Hovik Abrahamyan stresses the role of Rompuy in EU-Armenia relations

YEREVAN, JULY 4, ARMENPRESS: The development of bilateral relations with European countries is one of the priorities of Armenian foreign policy. On July 4 about this mentioned President of Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan before the speech of Herman Van Rompuy during the meeting with Armenian deputies.

“It is honor for us that Rompuy at first visits Armenia from the countries of Eastern Partnership which speaks about the fact that EU welcomes Armenian steps towards democratization. The range of Armenia-EU relations has significantly expanded” mentioned Abrahamyan as Armenpress reports. He highlighted that headed by the President Sargsyan great efforts have been implemented in order to build democratic country based on European value system.

“Parliament had a key role in this process” mentioned President of National Assembly. He assured that it had been managed to hold elections in accordance to European standards which will be favorable for creation of new culture of parliamentarism.

Abrahamyan stressed that Armenia had a great role in the beginning of the negotiations on Visa facilitation. “We stress the importance of the support given to Armenia by EU and are sure that cooperation will take place also in legislative and executive spheres” mentioned president of National Assembly. He assured that the role of Herman Van Rompuy will be additional stimulus in the sphere of deepening Armenia-EU relations.
