YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS: U.S. policy has not changed in Nagorno Karabakh issue, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rubin stated in an interview given to the Azerbaijani "Azertag", Armenpress reports.
"We co-chair in OSCE Minsk Group and intend to promote improvement of the atmosphere between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Rubin said.
He also emphasized that the Helsinki Final Act is the cornerstone of the American position. It specifically includes three principles: the territorial integrity, self-determination right of peoples and non-use of force.
"We do not support any party, but try to use such expressions and formulations, which will not create additional difficulties between the parties," the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State stressed.
Referring to the negotiation format, Rubin emphasized that the Minsk Group is the only working format, which can promote some shift in the negotiation process. "I have distonctly stated about this during the meeting with Ilham Aliyev," said Eric Rubin.
